LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles authorities say a man found dead after a shootout with police officers responding to a domestic battery call died of multiple gunshot wounds.

City News Service cites a coroner’s report Thursday that concludes 27-year-old Michael Valentino’s wounds were not self-inflicted.

Valentino died at his multi-story Hollywood Hills home after opening fire on officers Monday. One officer was struck by shrapnel or debris during the exchange of gunfire. She was treated at a hospital for injuries that aren’t life threatening.

Valentino’s body was found by SWAT officers who made entry several hours later.

The incident is under investigation.
