OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Data from the U.S. Census Bureau shows the fastest growing county in Oklahoma is Canadian County, where the population has increased by more than 9 percent since 2010.
Figures released Thursday show the county just west of Oklahoma City increased 9.2 percent from April 2010 to July 2013. Canadian County includes the rapidly growing Oklahoma City suburbs of Mustang, Yukon and Piedmont.
The next three fastest growing counties during the period are all in western Oklahoma, where there has been a boom in oil and gas drilling. Texas County had a 7 percent increase and Beckham and Custer County each grew by 6.9 percent. Logan County was fifth at 6.1 percent and McClain County sixth at 5.8 percent.
Oklahoma County remains the most populous in the state with 755,245 residents.
