ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) - The 52nd Ann Arbor Film Festival runs through Sunday.

The festival features more than 200 films, videos and live performances with better than 30 world, North American and U.S. premieres.

Veteran director, producer and screenwriter Penelope Spheeris is to be honored at the festival on Thursday.



The Ann Arbor Film Festival bills itself as the longest-running independent and experimental film festival in North America. It gets more than 3,000 submissions annually from over 70 countries and serves as one of a handful of Academy Award qualifying festivals in the U.S.
