5-year-old found alone in burning apartment

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - A Kansas City woman is under arrest after firefighters found her 5-year-old son alone in their burning apartment.

KCTV reports (https://bit.ly/1dzdm0e ) the fire broke out around 11:30 a.m. Thursday in a second-floor unit at an apartment complex on the city’s east side.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the flames and got the boy out safely.

Police said the mother returned home a short time later. She was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment.

The child has been taken into the care of the Missouri Children’s Division.
