BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A state judge sentenced a 39-year-old Baton Rouge woman to 20 years in prison for fatally stabbing a man in 2009.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1jHCbFA ) Rhonda Faye Jordan was convicted in November of manslaughter in the Oct. 17, 2009, slaying of 50-year-old Isaac Shelmire Jr.

District Judge Mike Erwin sentenced Jordan on Monday.

Police say Jordan stabbed Shelmire in the chest during an argument.

Her attorney, Stephen Sterling, argued she was defending herself, but prosecutors Barry Fontenot and Stephen Pugh said it was not a case of self-defense.
