BUCKHANNON, W.Va. (AP) - West Virginia Wesleyan College says its students didn’t provoke an altercation with Alderson Broaddus University students that involved about 20 people.
The private school in Buckhannon says in a statement to media outlets that its students acted in self-defense.
The fight occurred early Sunday morning outside the Kappa Alpha Order house adjacent to Wesleyan’s campus. We
Buckhannon police chief Matthew Gregory has said about a half dozen students were injured. No arrests have been made.
Wesleyan says the incident began when several car loads of Alderson Broaddus students arrived at the fraternity house following a social event there.
Wesleyan says it has asked local police and West Virginia State Police to increase patrols in the area where the incident occurred.
