ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) - A state judge has ruled there’s enough evidence for a southern Utah man to be tried in the shooting deaths of his wife and her son.
First District Judge Eric Ludlow ordered 49-year-old Richard Andrew Jones to stand trial on two murder charges Wednesday after hearing testimony from detectives.
Prosecutors believe Jones fatally shot 42-year-old Michelle Jones and 19-year-old Owen Christopher Ellis at their home in Washington City, Utah in February 2011.
Detectives say Richard Jones was found in the home’s garage with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his chin and head and hospitalized.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1j5h3dN) the case has been delayed because of his injuries.
Ludlow scheduled a two-day trial starting Nov. 10.
