NEW YORK (AP) - The long-shuttered New York State Pavilion in Queens will be open to the public for three hours next month for the 50th anniversary of the 1964 World’s Fair.

The Flushing Meadows-Corona Park structure will be open between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. on April 22. Hardhats must be worn and will be provided.

The Philip Johnson-designed “Tent of Tomorrow” pavilion was built to showcase the Empire State.

It features three space-age towers accessible by capsule elevators, which are now closed. Two of the towers held cafeterias and an observation deck.

WCBS New York (https://cbsloc.al/1o0sc4k ) says the Parks Department released plans last fall for restoring the pavilion with new event spaces and landscaped paths.
