NEW YORK (AP) - The NYPD is investigating a fiery accident in Brooklyn involving an unmarked police vehicle that crashed into a church van.

It happened at 11 p.m. Tuesday in front of 781 Belmont Ave. at the corner of Essex Street in East New York.

Two police officers in the cruiser and three people in the van were taken to a hospital. Their injuries were not considered to be life-threatening.

The van burst into flames and landed partially on the unmarked car.

WABC-TV says the people in the van were auxiliary officers who were on their way home.
