BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 32-year-old Baton Rouge man pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to 40 years in prison in the 2012 shooting death of a 19-year-old man.

The Advocate reports (https://bit.ly/1m5RAAQ ) Jarvis Turner was scheduled to stand trial Monday on a second-degree murder charge in the killing of Justin Weideman but instead pleaded guilty to the lesser charge.

State District Judge Lou Daniel sentenced Turner to the maximum 40 years.
