Lawsuit against ex-sheriff settled

GLASGOW, Ky. (AP) - A federal lawsuit that claimed excessive force was used during an arrest in Barren County has been settled.

The Glasgow Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1hreuOV ) reports an agreement was reached Tuesday. Terms were not disclosed.

Mark Smith filed the complaint in 2012 against former Barren County Sheriff Chris Eaton along with three deputies stemming from his arrest in 2011.

The settlement in the lawsuit came two weeks before a trial was to begin.
