MALVERN, Iowa (AP) - A southwest Iowa man has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for making methamphetamine near an elementary school.
A U.S. District Court judge issued the sentence Tuesday for 31-year-old Jesse R. Salmons-Rice, of Malvern. He will serve eight years of supervised release after he completes his sentence.
The Daily Nonpareil reports (https://bit.ly/1o2lsD6 ) Salmons-Rice pleaded guilty last September to a charge of manufacturing meth within 1,000 feet of school property.
Investigators say Salmons-Rice made the meth in the loft of his garage in November 2012. That was less than 30 feet from Chantry Elementary School in Malvern.
