PHOENIX (AP) - A 16-year-old girl is being treated for minor smoke inhalation but five other people escaped injury when a fire in a home’s garage destroyed two vehicles.

Neighbors reported hearing explosions and saw flames coming from the garage early Wednesday morning.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs says the explosions heard by neighbors were vehicles’ tires popping and compressed gases in paint cans.

Jacobs credits working smoke detectors in the home for alerting the family.

An investigation into the fire’s cause continues, but officials say it appears to have been accidental.
