PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (AP) - Authorities say three children were taken to a hospital for evaluation of minor injuries after an accident involving a school bus and a snow plow in Portsmouth.

Police say the driver of a private plow failed to stop at the end of Middle Road and struck a school bus at the intersection of Union Street just before 8 a.m. Wednesday.

There were as many as 55 students on the bus and three were taken to Newport Hospital.

The uninjured students were put on another bus and continued on to school.

The crash remains under investigation. No names were released.
