23-year prison term for Richland murder

RICHLAND, Wash. (AP) - A 19-year-old who shot a teenager to death on the Fourth of July in Richland was sentenced Wednesday to 23 years in prison.

A Benton County Superior Court jury convicted Joshua H. Hunt in February of second-degree murder for the death of 17-year-old Joshua Snapp.

The Tri-City Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1lmQune ) the two had been partying together. Prosecutors said Hunt and a codefendant killed Snapp because they believed he was a drug informant.

Hunt said the shooting wasn’t planned and he blacked out from drug use and couldn’t remember.
