JENNINGS, La. (AP) - Two Jennings men have been indicted in connection with the New Year’s Eve slaying of Ruston Reed.
The American Press reports (https://bit.ly/1eOXZNb ) a grand jury handed up second-degree murder and obstruction of justice charges against 21-year-old Keagon Drew Reon and accessory after the fact to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice charges against 22-year-old Jules Patrick Batiste.
Reon remains in jail on $500,000 bond awaiting trial; Batiste is being held on $75,000 bond.
The two were arrested Jan. 1 after a passing motorist found Reed’s body lying in a roadway on New Year’s Eve.
A motive for the slaying has not been released by police.
It was unclear whether Reon and Batiste have attorneys.
