COLCHESTER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a Colchester police officer is facing a charge of driving under the influence.

State Police say that at about midnight Tuesday troopers were asked by Colchester police to investigate a suspected driving under the influence case after it was determined that a car that had been stopped on U.S. Route 7 for erratic operation was being driven by a local police officer.

Thirty-six-year-old Jeremy Wyskiel of Colchester was cited to appear in court next month.

Colchester Police Chief Jennifer Morrison says Wyskiel has been a Colchester police officer since September 2008. He is currently on administrative leave.

Morrison says state police will handle the criminal case.

A working phone number for Wyskiel could not be located Tuesday.
