OSO, Wash. (AP) - A volunteer rescue worker has been injured while working in the debris of the Washington state mudslide.

Everett Police spokesman Aaron Snell said a man working in the debris area of the landslide near Oso, Wash., was injured when a small piece of debris thrown up by a helicopter downdraft struck him in the head, rendering him unconscious momentarily.

The man was flown to a landing zone where he was evaluated by a doctor. His injuries appeared to be minor and he was transported to Providence Regional Medical Center in Everett as a precaution, Snell said.
