FILLMORE, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say a Southern California deputy shot two dogs and killed one of them after he was attacked in a homeless encampment.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Eric Buschow tells the Ventura County Star (https://bit.ly/1j0F3yD ) that the two pit bulls came after him when he was investigating gang graffiti at the encampment.
The deputy fired and hit both dogs. One of them ran away and the other later died.
The deputy, whose name has not been released, was treated at the scene for a bite on the arm. No other people were involved.
Buschow says because the deputy fired his weapon the incident will go through the usual use-of-force investigation.
