CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - The latest forecast shows moderate to high risk of flooding from spring snowmelt in several areas of Wyoming.

Those areas include along the North Platte River around Saratoga and Riverside, and on the Wind River near Riverton. The North Fork and South Fork rivers west of Cody also are at higher risk this spring, as are areas on both sides of the Bighorn Mountains.

Federal hydrologist Jim Fahey said Tuesday mountain snowpack and the water content of that snow continued to be well above average statewide as of mid-March.

The flood outlook for most mountainous areas was only low to moderate. The forecast takes into account several factors that can worsen flooding, including widespread beetle-killed trees and recent wildfires.
