FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) - Prosecutors say an argument over a televised soccer match prompted a Framingham man to threaten to kill another man.
The MetroWest Daily News (https://bit.ly/1fXoXAC ) reports that police arrested 39-year-old Alvaro Navarro after responding to an apartment at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
Prosecutors said at his arraignment Monday that Navarro was drinking and watching the game with friends. Navarro and a friend got into an argument and Navarro allegedly went to another room and returned with a knife.
Prosecutors say Navarro grabbed the victim’s head and cut off some hair, then put the knife to his stomach and threatened to kill him.
Navarro was held on $10,000 bail after pleading not guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Navarro’s lawyer said the group was “horsing around” and there were no threats.
