GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) - Gulf Shores fire officials say lifeguards and the U.S. Coast Guard rescued two girls on a raft who were swept out into the Gulf of Mexico by high winds.
Fire Chief Hartley Brokenshaw tells AL.com that lifeguards on a WaveRunner rescued the girls Tuesday afternoon and they were brought ashore by a U.S. Coast Guard boat.
Brokenshaw says the girls showed signs of hypothermia and were planning to be reunited with their mother at a nearby ferry terminal.
