ATLANTA (AP) - Federal prosecutors say an ex-church youth outreach coordinator has been sentenced for distributing child pornography.

Authorities said in a release Tuesday that 39-year-old Kevin Hickey will serve 10 years in prison. Prosecutors say Hickey, of Atlanta, worked for Parish Outreach for Life Teen International when he unknowingly shared child pornography online with federal agents last year.

Prosecutors say Hickey also shared photos of children he secretly took in public places and investigators found thousands of photos of children being exploited on Hickey’s computer and his other electronic devices.

Authorities say Hickey will spend life on supervised release after his sentence and is ordered to pay $1,000 restitution.
