OXFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Naugatuck man has suffered hypothermia after falling through the ice at the Naugatuck State Forest Reservoir in Oxford.
Authorities say police responding to a report of a man in the water found 58-year-old Kenneth Wakeley clinging to an ice fishing supply sled about 50 feet from shore shortly before 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. His 12-year-old son was found on shore.
Wakeley was able to grab a rope that was thrown to him and was pulled from the freezing water, where he’d been for more than 10 minutes. He was treated at the scene for hypothermia.
