NEWTON, Mass. (AP) - Fire officials say about a dozen employees of two Newton restaurants were evacuated after a faulty oven set off a carbon monoxide alarm in one of them.

A member of the prep crew at Legal Sea Foods in Chestnut Hill called 911 at about 9 a.m. Tuesday after the alarm went off.

The Cottage restaurant next door was also evacuated.

Fire Lt. Eric Fricke says carbon monoxide levels were “well into the danger zone.”

One person was tested at the scene but was found to be OK. No one required transportation to the hospital.

The leak was blamed on an oven in Legal Sea Foods. The restaurants were ventilated and reopened.

A manager at a New York Legal Sea Foods died of carbon monoxide poisoning last month.
