MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. (AP) - A massive piece of equipment used by the energy industry is nearing the end of its three-day journey through Marshall County.
The “de-ethanizer” is scheduled to arrive at Williams Energy’s Oak Grove facility near Cameron on Tuesday. The 510,000-pound piece of equipment began its trip Sunday from a rail yard in Benwood.
Crane Rental Corp. is using a modular platform with 48 wheels to move the massive machinery, which stretches nearly the length of a football field.
Williams Energy spokeswoman Helen Humphreys tells The Intelligencer and Wheeling News Register (https://bit.ly/OV4ExF ) that Crane Rental workers have enjoyed talking to residents who’ve come out to watch the move of the big load.
The “de-ethanizer” is used by the energy industry to help separate ethane from natural gas.
