BLOOMINGDALE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a mother briefly held her two young children hostage inside their northern New Jersey home before she peacefully surrendered to police.

No injuries were reported in the incident, which started around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday in Bloomingdale and ended without incident about 90 minutes later. Authorities said the woman appeared to be distraught, but did not disclose further details about her or say what may have spurred the standoff.

Multiple weapons were recovered from the residence.

The names of the woman and the two children - a boy and a girl - were not released.
