ST. LOUIS (AP) - A project to link the Loop retail district in St. Louis with nearby Forest Park has won a $25 million federal grant.

The 2.2 mile route would begin in University City and run along Delmar Boulevard to the Missouri History Museum. The federal grant would cover more than half the cost of the $43 million project.

Local businessman Joe Edwards first proposed the trolley project nearly 20 years ago. Streetcars served the area until the mid-1960s.
