PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Providence police are looking for a suspect who stabbed a 51-year-old man during an early morning foot chase.

Police say the suspect first punched the victim as he was sitting in a car parked outside a convenience store at the corner of Smith Street and Chalkstone Avenue at about 1 a.m. Sunday. The victim got out of the car and chased the other man, and ended up getting stabbed.

Authorities say the victim is being treated at Rhode Island Hospital for torso and leg wounds that are not life-threatening. His name hasn’t been released.

Police say they don’t have a detailed description of the suspect.
