PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police are investigating an attack upon a Philadelphia high school staffer by a teenager who knocked him unconscious.

The Philadelphia Inquirer (https://bit.ly/1gvAxcf) said Alphonso Stevens suffered a fractured skull, concussion and other injuries in the incident Friday at John Bartram High School.

Stevens is a conflict resolution specialist who works to quell violence at the school.

School district spokeswoman Raven Hill said a 17-year-old student got into a verbal exchange with Stevens when students were changing classes then grabbed him by the arm and pushed him into a wall.

Stevens fell to the floor, unconscious. He was taken to a hospital for treatment and is now recovering at home.

The student was charged as a juvenile with aggravated assault and has been suspended pending expulsion.
