BOISE, Idaho (AP) - A motorcyclist was seriously injured when he was struck by an SUV that ran a red light in Boise.

The crash happened Monday morning near the intersection of River Street and 15th Street.

The Idaho Statesman reports the rider, who was wearing a helmet, was flung into the air by the force of the collision.

He was taken a local hospital, and is expected to survive, police said.

The motorcycle was caught beneath the other vehicle and dragged for a short distance.

Witnesses told police the SUV’s driver, 56-year-old Marsha Jones, appeared to be using her cellphone when the crash happened.

Jones was cited for misdemeanor inattentive driving.
