TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - A number of clinics exempt from state oversight would be required to be licensed under a bill that’s moving through the Florida Senate.
The Senate Committee on Criminal Justice voted 6-0 Monday to approve the bill (SB 746).
Many of the affected clinics are cash-only and under current law can pay a $100 fee and avoid licensure.
The proposed measure would require any clinic accepting payment of any kind to be licensed and to be subject to inspections by the state.
The bill would also make all clinics subject to sanctions, including criminal penalties, if they allow a medical professional whose license is suspended or revoked to practice.
