CODY, Wyo. (AP) - Flows on the Bighorn River will increase this week as the Wyoming Game and Fish Department takes action to improve conditions for trout.
The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation will increase releases from Boysen Dam starting Tuesday. The flows will fluctuate from 475 cubic feet per second up to 5,000 cfs this week.
The game department says anglers and others wading or floating the river should be aware of the potential dangers related to the flushing flows.
The increased flows clean fine sediments from fish spawning habitats and increase production of the nymphs and other things fish depend on for food.
