SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - The state Attorney General’s Office say a nurse has been charged with forging prescriptions for a painkiller for her personal use.

Thirty-one-year-old Danielle M. Tharp-Strouse of Camden was arrested Friday. She was charged with forgery and obtaining a controlled substance by misrepresentation or fraud or forgery.

Prosecutors say an administrator at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna contacted police alleging that an employee had been illegally obtaining Oxycodone.

The Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Control Unit began investigating, and officials say Tharp-Strouse allegedly forged the signatures of other hospital staffers.

Prosecutors say Tharp-Strouse forged signatures on the hospital’s controlled substances sheets and said the drugs had been given to patients.
