KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) - Blood is another reason for a rivalry between Western Michigan University and Central Michigan University.
Starting Monday, students will be competing to see which campus can donate the most blood. The American Red Cross says 300 units of blood can help more than 900 people.
The Kalamazoo Gazette (https://bit.ly/1leVMkt) says the blood challenge, as it is known, will run to April 9. Donors will receive a free shirt and the satisfaction of helping others. They must be 17 or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health.
The annual campus competition began in 1997.
