DEVILS LAKE, N.D. (AP) - An annual report of law enforcement activity in Devils Lake shows that police arrested nearly 2,030 individuals in 2013, an increase of about six percent compared to the previous year.

The Devils Lake Journal (https://bit.ly/1rj1HpZ ) reports 2,028 people were arrested in 2013. That number includes 352 warrants served.

The number of drug-related arrests saw a significant hike. The department logged 50 arrests on charges of ingestion of a controlled substance, that’s 31 more arrests than in 2012.

In the report, police chief Keith Schroeder described the activity in the area during the past three years as fairly stable.

The newspaper reports that although the city saw an increase in arrests, the number of citation violations decreased last year. Officers wrote 1,822 citation violations in 2013 down from 1,984 in 2012.
