NEW YORK (AP) - The family of a slain bodega worker who was fatally shot on a city bus is getting some help from an industry group.
The Bodega Association of the United States says it’s giving $5,000 to the family of Angel Rojas.
Authorities say Rojas, 39, was killed Thursday night while riding a city bus. He was a bystander and not the intended target.
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on a second-degree murder charge. Investigators suspect the shooting came about because of a dispute between two gangs.
Relatives say Rojas came to the United States four years ago from the Dominican Republic with his wife and two children.
