Bozeman offering discount on urban trees

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - The city of Bozeman is offering trees to residents at a reduced cost to be planted along city streets.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1kVdeI3) the city is accepting applications for the trees through its Cost Share Tree Program.

The city has 175 trees available. That’s 50 more than last year.

Types of trees available are Norway maple, honeylocust, American elm, littleleaf linden, Japanese white birch and several smaller ornamental species.

Municipal arborist Jennifer Roth says the program is a way for the city to regenerate its urban forest.

Cost for homeowners is $65 per tree, but $75 for a Norway maple.

Roth says that’s a screaming deal for homeowners.
