PHOENIX (AP) - A 1-year-old boy who was pulled from a Phoenix swimming pool has died.

Authorities say the boy was pronounced dead a hospital Saturday afternoon.

Phoenix Fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs says the child was found in the family pool around 11:30 a.m.

Jacobs says the boy was not breathing when emergency responders gave CPR.

He says both parents were home and the pool did have a fence.

Jacobs says Phoenix police are investigating how the child managed to get into the pool.

It was the first of two drowning incidents the Phoenix Fire Department handled Saturday.

Several hours after the boy was found, a 3-year-old girl in a north Phoenix apartment complex was pulled from a hot tub.
