GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) - The Etowah Water and Sewer Authority will apply for a state loan it hopes will speed construction of the Russell Creek Reservoir.
The authority’s board has approved applying for a loan from the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority.
General Manager Brooke Anderson told The Times of Gainesville (https://bit.ly/1d9AuBY ) that the authority had not applied for state funding in the past because the authority did not believe the project was ready until now.
The authority has been working since 2006 to develop the Russell Creek Reservoir. It could serve an estimated population of 125,000 through 2050.
