MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermonters may visit sugarhouses across the state this weekend to see maple syrup making as part of Vermont Maple Open House weekend.

At least 85 sugarhouses will allow visitors to watch the process of making maple syrup or host events with free samples and specialty maple treats for sale on Saturday and Sunday.

Items for sale at different events include sugar on snow, maple chili, sap-cooked sausages and hot dogs, maple creemees, maple lemonade, chocolate-covered maple candy and more.

Lunenberg Maple Festival kicks off on Saturday with interactive displays of the sugaring process. Woodstock will host Maple Madness over the weekend with painted sap bucket auctions, maple tasting and maple goodies.
