NORWOOD, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a fire that consumed two buildings, four vehicles and other equipment at a northern New Jersey town’s public works complex likely caused around $1 million in damage.

Norwood Mayor James Bursa told The Record (https://bit.ly/1gKyknl) that the officials don’t yet know what sparked the blaze, which broke out around 5 p.m. Friday. But he said no injuries were reported.

The fire quickly destroyed two connected garages and damaged four trucks. It also ruined other equipment the department housed in the garages, like a back hoe and lawnmowers.

Bursa said borough officials are waiting to learn the total cost of the damages from the municipality’s insurance company. In the meantime, he said neighboring towns have offered their assistance while the borough works to replace its buildings and equipment.
