MER ROUGE, La. (AP) - A one-vehicle crash has claimed the life of an Oak Grove woman.
Louisiana State Troopers say 33-year-old April Fabela died Saturday from injuries after a Chevrolet Blazer she was riding in flipped several times on a rural road in northeastern Morehouse Parish.
The vehicle went off the left side of the road and then came back on before flipping.
Troopers say Fabela wasn’t wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.
The driver, 21-year-old Stacy George of Oak Grove, was cited for careless operation and driving with a suspended license. He was wearing a seat belt and was taken to Morehouse General Hospital in Bastrop with moderate injuries.
A second passenger left before police arrived.
Troopers say they don’t know if George was impaired, but are investigating.
