DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine (AP) - A mistrial has been declared in the case of a Maine mother of 13 charged with trying to hire someone to kill her husband.

Forty-eight-year-old Wendy Farley of Brownville was charged with criminal solicitation for allegedly offering someone several thousand dollars to kill her husband of 30 years in September 2012.

WABI-TV reports that after deliberating for nearly seven hours, a jury on Friday was deadlocked so the judge declared a mistrial.

On Thursday the jury heard a recording made by a cooperating witness in which Farley says she wants to make her husband’s death look like a hunting accident. She also says she is having an affair.

Her defense lawyer says although she thought and talked about having her husband killed, she never actually followed through on it.
