BEND, Ore. (AP) - A man has died in a snowmobile crash in central Oregon.
Linn County Sheriff’s Sgt. Michelle Duncan said the fatal accident occurred Saturday near Santiam Pass.
Duncan said deputies were still investigating the accident and no other details were being released.
The man’s name is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
Santiam Pass is a 4,817-foot mountain pass in the Cascade Range, about 45 miles northwest of Bend.
In a separate accident, a Portland man was rescued Saturday after a head-on snowmobile crash near the top of Moon Mountain near Bend. 43-year-old Mike Galvan was transported to St. Charles Medical Center in Bend with non-life threatening injuries.
Another snowmobile rider involved in the same crash was not injured.
