DIAMOND BAR, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say an off-duty Los Angeles police officer has been arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after his car careened from a freeway off-ramp into the drive-through area of a McDonald’s restaurant.

City News Service says Jonathan Chel was taken into custody Friday at a hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries following the early morning crash in Diamond Bar.

The 29-year-old Fullerton resident was booked on suspicion of driving under the influence.

The California Highway Patrol says Chel’s Mazda 3 traveled about 50 feet from the off-ramp of the Pomona Freeway into the restaurant’s drive-through lane.
