WICKLIFFE, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says a bridge over the Mississippi River near Wickliffe in far western Kentucky will be closed during the day starting Friday.

The U.S. 60-62 bridge carries traffic between Alexander County, Ill., and Mississippi County, Mo.

The closure begins at 7 a.m. CDT Friday and continues through 5:30 p.m. March 28. The bridge will be open to all traffic from 5:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. each night.

The shutdown is necessary for a required annual safety inspection.
