ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - A man whose body was found near an Anchorage soup kitchen and day shelter was a volunteer at the facility.

Anchorage police Friday identified the dead man as 59-year-old Gregory Jack.

Bean’s Cafe executive director Lisa Sauder tells KTUU-TV (https://is.gd/isRZTo) that Jack was well known to staff and clients of the cafe near downtown Anchorage.

Police were notified Thursday morning that Jack had been found unconscious and not breathing in the 1000 block of East Third Avenue.

He was declared dead at the scene. An autopsy was scheduled.
