Licensing measures return to Pence’s desk

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Lawmakers are hoping Gov. Mike Pence will approve licensing for diabetes educators and anesthesiologists assistants this year.

Pence vetoed the new licensing requirements last year. But supporters of the new licenses say they answered the governor’s concerns with changes made this year.

WIBC-FM reported Thursday (https://bit.ly/1eXd2mL) that licensing will be determined by the Medical Licensing Board. The bills passed last year would have created a new oversight board.

Pence’s veto message last year noted that the number of residents with professional licenses had risen 38 percent in 10 years.
