DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A 25-year-old man who’s been convicted twice of fatally shooting someone inside a car in a Des Moines parking lot is scheduled to be sentenced Friday.

The Des Moines Register says (https://dmreg.co/1d6YK82 ) Matthew Grady was convicted earlier this month of first-degree murder. He was first convicted in 2010 of shooting to death 37-year-old Stephen Scott in August 2009. But in May 2012 the Iowa Court of Appeals ordered a new trial for Grady, saying that he’d been interrogated improperly.

Scott was shot through the back while behind the wheel of his car. Prosecutors say Grady admitted being in Scott’s car about 10 minutes before the shooting. Defense attorneys say Grady left the car before the shooting.
